The motion to repeal Net Neutrality has been passed in a 3-2 vote
Before everyone losses their shit, I will like to urge everyone to talk a deep breath and focus on the following:
1: This cannot go into immediate effect.
2: There is still many issues that WILL be addressed by the Congress, Supreme Court, and many other government officials have a current say in the false comments, stolen idenities, denial of public hearings, and many other issues that the FCC did not address.
3: CALL. YOUR. OFFICALS. Do NOT give up, just because the vote has passed, don’t you DARE stop. Make this shit go front-page, make some NOISE.
I’ve already commented on one post, but I can’t with a clean conscience sit by without making my own.
I see so many posts about Net Neutrality, and while I think it’s tremendous how many of you are emailing the FCC, some of those emails aren’t going to change minds.
Some of you are emailing the chairman himself. Ajit Pai was a former Verison employee. It doesn’t matter how many emails you send to him. You could literally tell him that you depend on the Internet’s resources to live, and he would not bat an eye.
Many of you are putting in your emails that hospitals and schools will see troubles. I appreciate the effort, but when these men are the very same men who have already taken SO MUCH from hospitals and schools, will they?
What you NEED to do, is speak their language. That language is dollar signs. Make your voice sound like MONEY THEY WILL BE LOSING.
We live in a nation where restaurants are failing because no one can afford a $20 meal anymore. What makes the FCC think we can afford more than $60 Internet? E-commerce is essential to the US economy. If users are forced to go through paywall after paywall, they will STOP purchasing anything off the Internet. The nosedive in stocks will be the likes of nothing you’ve ever seen.
Without the freedom to choose which websites we visit, the internet, for many of you on Tumblr like me, will become virtually meaningless. Make THAT the message you spread to these two “Yes votes.” Tell them that if the Internet becomes just like cable TV, which none of us are able to afford, they will LOSE the few dollars we have.
They’ll be interested in hearing that.
These are the emails of the two FCC members voting “yes” on the repeal of NN. If anyone’s mind is going to be changed. It has to be one of these guys. And it has to be before December 14th.

If we speak their language, there may still be hope. Good luck, everyone.
Just so that we make sure all of these go through, mike o’rielly’s email is without the apostrophe: mike.orielly@fcc.gov
Thank you for this! Reminder that today is the LAST DAY TO EMAIL BEFORE THE VOTE.
IF YOU HAVEN’T SENT OUT AN EMAIL OR MADE A PHONE CALL YET, DO NOT LET THIS CHANCE SLIP AWAY. FIGHT TILL THE LAST MOMENT AND DO NOT GIVE UP.
Ron Swanson has no time for Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai and his bid to repeal net neutrality.
Swanson, the lovable curmudgeon from NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” is no fan of public officials who misuse their power. So Nick Offerman, the actor who plays Swanson, offered up a few choice words for Pai on Thursday.
Apparently, Pai is a fan of Swanson and the show, and showed off a signed “Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness” poster in a segment for Vice News. Offerman said this “felt strange” to him, given Pai’s stance on net neutrality, so he “went to see Ron Swanson to ask if he’d care to weigh in.”
Offerman’s tweet included a screenshot of a text message, purportedly from Swanson.
“I’m flattered that my pyramid of greatness has inspired you,” says the text. “I will remind you that the top category is Honor. Sadly, based on your duplicitous handling of the net neutrality issue, and the way you are willfully ignoring the public you claim to serve, I feel you may need that term defined. Which means, of course, that you don’t have it.” (Continue reading)
That’s it, 5. Net neutrality is in danger. The FCC will strip away your internet. Say goodbye to fan art, long distance relationships, internet friends, home schooling, fandoms, they’ll all be behind a paywall.
Is there any way for citizens to show their support for this?
Call your reps and mention H.R. 4585 specifically!
It should be noted that this bill is not a permanent solution, but intended to force the FCC to start the NPRM process all over again (essentially, if this bill goes through and they still want to roll back net neutrality, it’ll take them at least another several months).
I’d rather we have legislation in place that keeps us from having to do this fight over and over again every two years (or what have you), but it’s still something.
damn, i was really hoping this could end this for good

They don’t care about people being unable to find jobs or connect to friends and family or a lifeline for suicidal – esp minority and young – people.
Hit them in their wallets, the one thing they DO care about.
Net neutrality is the only reason many of you who most need it are still able to access this page.
If your local authorities could order me blocked, would they?
For many of you, that answer is probably a firm yes. So let’s put up a fight now, before the internet is jeopardized in the US and potentially starts a censorship ripple effect elsewhere.
Imma get real with you.
I know I reblog a lot about Net Neutrality but I’m very keen on this post because it’s true. So please if you haven’t read any other post, then read this one. Because I’m finally mentioning that this is going to be the way the fate of this changes.
I need this to change, you guys. And I’m sure you do too. And if you didn’t know this already, then you should know that half maybe more of this fandom depends on people not knowing they are on tumblr to being with. Myself included.
If Net Neutrality wins then I won’t be able to be on tumblr anymore. Which means I’ll lose 90% of the friends I have. And I know that’s true for quite a few blogs I know.
If Net Neutrality wins then I’ll lose a few of the things I personally have in life, that keeps me alive. And I know that sounds dramatic but I’m serious. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve been ready to end everything but then I come on here and I’m ok…I’m alright…I know I can make it as long as I cling to this blue site for the majority of the night.
If Net Neutrality wins then I will no longer be able to talk to my girlfriend. Think about that. We are a site, one of many, that has created long distance relationships of all kinds ACROSS THE FUCKING GLOBE… but we can’t do that if we have Net Neutrality. So for all of the people who have found their friends, best friends, lovers, or partners through the internet, help fight it using this post.
I could keep listing the reasons why we need this not to pass, reasons that I deal with personally and know is the same for many people in this very fandom, but I won’t right now. Because I really fucking hope this gets some point across and that some of you will help me and do what this post says. Cause idk about you but I really like talking to my girlfriend.
Thanks,
-Donnie
this whole thing is so infuriating and really fucking scary, they dont care about the thousands and thousands of complaints that truly come from the heart and for some even from a place of fear, they only see profit so lets start speaking their language and hit them right where it hurts
Even if you never fight for anything or email for anything, and you always remain neutral, waiting for things to balance themselves out, this is something you NEED to do, this is something you MUST get involved in. I haven’t been on Tumblr long or anything, but I know I wouldn’t want to lose it, along with a whole slew of other things I definitely do not want to lose.
