renniequeer:

Just like Teespring, Redbubble has been pulling down designs that stand against TERFs.

If you check out Redbubble Support’s Twitter, it’s pretty clear that this is happening because TERFs are mass-reporting “TERF” as an “anti-lesbian slur,” and Redbubble is reacting the same way they do toward content with actual slurs.

“TERF” is NOT an “anti-lesbian slur.” “TERF” means “trans-exclusionary radical feminist.“

TERFs hate trans people, especially trans women. They are NOT good people, they are NOT the victims here, and they are NOT to be supported. Don’t let them fool you.

“TERF” =/= “lesbian.” To insist “TERF” is an anti-lesbian slur is lesbophobia.

While it’s not a place to help small business content creators like the others are, Look Human has some amazing Anti-Terf merch and for reasonable prices. Until the other websites get their shit together, it’s a great place to get stuff.

hi as pride month draws near for june reminder that cishet aces/aros are not LGBT and don’t belong in our spaces

And like, just a reminder that people like op are the people I don’t want to share my spaces with.

Every time I see an exclusionist on here and I click their profile they’re like 17 or 19 or maybe 21 at best.

And that’s fair- it’s not like people that age can’t have opinions or be right, they’re people.

But when I think about how long it took me to work out my own damn sexuality, gender, and all that crap, and how gently I stepped once I realised I was queer, and how much listening to people I did to see who the hell was out there…how much I am STILL learning about people who have different experiences…

…it feels really odd to see people this young being so secure in their belief of who should be excluded from the community.

Not how to support and include, to help and support, but how to exclude.

Like…being confident in your own sexuality at 19? Fuck yeah, good for you, I’m happy you had a better chance and an earlier start than I did.

But… telling other people they’re not queer enough to be in ‘your’ space?

Your space? Not mine anymore? Huh.

I’m over here at 35 still listening and learning and trying to understand everyone’s perspectives, discovering that sexuality is even more complex and nuanced than I know…and all these people barely out of their teens are talking like they know everything there is to know about being LGBT, ever. Like it’s all been written down, stamped, sealed, confirmed by some Authority.

Mmmm. No. Just… have an ounce of humility. Try gaining some perspective, please.

You haven’t lived long enough to even really listen to real life aces, to really think about what LGBT means. I don’t mean this as an ageist insult, I just really think that this kind of shit deserves TIME- hell I know it deserves time and thought because I am STILL unlearning bad assumptions and behaviours, and STILL meeting people who define themselves outside of the frame that I was once taught meant ‘LGBT’.

And you, a teen raised in a world that’s still pretty fucking homophobic and doesn’t recognise half of what the LGBT community itself has taken years to acknowledge, you think you know it all?

Because you’re online?

While you’re here, read some posts where ace people talk about how they’re treated. Forget semantics for a while: read the experiences.

I’m online too, I have been for some time. Doesn’t make me right, but experience is of some value. Experience in listening to queer people who aren’t quite like me, that is, in trying to understand how I am similar, instead of trying to figure out how they do not belong. In how people rework things, figure out how they can be less harmful, more inclusive, more representative of all those who are marginalised.

See, Q is queer but also often Questioning. It’s still important to let people be Questioning, there is an astounding amount of queerphobia in the world and we are NOT done working out the labels. We may never be.

Not so long ago, the T in lgbt was under question. Bisexuals are still being excluded.

So I’m being told I don’t matter by people who weren’t even born yet when I realised I wasn’t straight. They’re skipping right over all the reflection and going straight to self-affirmation by exclusion.

Which, again- if you are born into a world where you never have to question your identity, oh good grief I hope that’s real for everyone some day.

But we’re not there yet, yanno? And I resent being told that after all these years of soul-searching and careful, very careful questioning of whether I belong and how I can be a good member of the community, people arrive so 100% certain of their claim to being LGBT that the first thing they do is try to kick others out.

tl;dr I was here first and I’m not amused.

My general feeling when These Kids start yelling about who does or doesn’t Belong in the collection of the broken, hurt and strange that is the queer community:

Pride month is an especially shitty time to tell queer people that they’re not queer enough and that they’re not welcome.

About K Fan Clan leaks/Actually supporting GORA/GoHands.

captainofscepter4:

marrysaki:

captainofscepter4:

Q. Why is leaking K Fan clan Screenshots/Videos bad?

The production team could get in trouble with higher ups, or it could cause issues with the actual fan clan and gora losing trust in us (ie, they cant show us things safely). basically, leaking things to just the fanclan is a type of special promotion/advertising, its not meant to be put out to the general audience by us. if its released by the actual team, cool! but if not, its meant to stay there. leaking it is unfair to the people working on it, and could lead to people getting fired, the fanclan being shut down, distrust in the western community (or the community in general), or even not wanting to release further projects knowing that they wont be able to surprise us or rally their audience safely.

Adding onto that;

“I think people forget that;; the point of the fanclan is like a patreon, you get to see things early or special things other people don’t have access to, and
leaking it isn’t “more fair to us”, its unfair to literally everyone, even the people running it. It’s meant to stay in a small circle to create hype and draw more people to the fanclan to see what they’re missing. They could literally push away the creators and make them feel unsafe showing their work to fans, especially western fans, because its disrespectful of us to take things they gave us in confidence; and just “im doing it fOR THE K FANS” – and that’s exactly why western fans end up being left out, because we’ve proven over and over we cant be trusted with content, or special promotions, or sneak peeks. We’re obsessed with leaking things for the popularity and being the first to know and creating hype about ourselves, rather than for the group trying to keep itself afloat and give more to the franchise.”

Q. Well, what about stuff GORA has officially released to the public?

Again,
if its released by the actual team, cool! Once its publicly released, its really just important to include sources, but other than that; it was released for a reason, and we have a lot more free reign. this goes for publicly released trailers, merchandise, screenshots, whatever. its just important that we dont risk the fanclan or people’s jobs, and respect that some things arent ready to be put out. its not our jobs to release things when we see fit, its not our project.

HOWEVER. This doesn’t mean you can/should go out and repost full K episodes and the like. We should always support the official release! supporting K directly means we’re more likely to get western releases and merchandise. this means supporting the official release, buying dvds and other K related things when you can, and generally showing support. leaking and reposting will do nothing but hurt the franchise we claim to love.

Q. What about Short stories/Novel/Book translations?

They need to be translated for the english fans, but there’s not enough localization interest. There’s so little money coming in from the western fandom that they don’t bother doing official translations, so you need the translations, but if you buy it, you wont be able to enjoy it anyways. It’s basically that they see doing that much for us as… a waste of resources, because our support is so little; Partially because of things like people leaking and illegal streaming etc. Fan-translations are okay, but if you can buy the source material, it’s really important that you do. To reiterate this,

it’s okay to read and make translations, since we dont have any official ones, but if you can buy the source material (even if its in japanese), you really should.

Q. So what can we/I do?

i know the systems kinda like;; “you have to spend money on this or you’re a bad fan >:(” but really;;; That’s exactly what it is. it’s just that
the western community just gives itself everything and never puts actual money or anything into the franchise, so there’s no actual results. No matter how big our fandom is, we’re not contributing so they cant give back to us. Of course everyone uses illegal streams and stuff sometimes like when it’s the only way to watch something together but the problem stems from when it’s the only thing people are willing to do; just because they just,, don’t want to pay.

Of course, I don’t expect anyone to like,, buy things they don’t have the money for
but;;; If you have an extra $20 and wanna buy the dvd or a keychain or something, it’s good to, it’s the least we can do sometimes…I don’t expect anyone to be an angel either,
but it does make me sad when people complain about no content / not enough content and then do nothing for it.

I don’t want to say this is a callout post, but it kind of is;; If we really love the things we say we do, I think we ALL need to work on supporting the actual creators;; not just taking;;
I’ll call myself out, too. I really love K. It’s done a lot for me.

I’m going to try my best to follow this for anything I love from now on;; I know just me doing this will never be enough, but I still want to do it. I can really never thank Gora/GoHands enough for sharing such a story with us. But…I urge everyone to please, please support the K creators! Or else K will die before it even crosses the sea;;

Special thanks

GORA, GoHands, and everyone involved with the production of K- They’ll probably never see this, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you! I will do my best to support you in the future !

“Must have reliable transportation” = “this is how we legally discriminate against poor people who take the bus”

As someone who has held several management positions with hiring responsibility, this is true. The boss at my last job informed me before I conducted my very first I interview,

“You can’t outright ask someone if they have a car or have kids. That’s technically illegal. But you need to know because sometimes they can be deal breakers. You can just say ‘Do you have reliable transportation?’ and ‘Do you have any current circumstances that could impede you from being successful at work?’

To which the last one most people fumble and would say, “Well I have kids, so sometimes they could get sick. But that’s not often.” But then your potential employer could mark it down on your interview notes nonetheless.

I thought that maybe it was just my own employer. But now I noticed that I am asked both of these almost every time I interview for a job.

Language is very sneaky. Be careful how you answer. Corporations can be snakes.

In my businesses class my professor told us that the bus counts as reliable transportation. You do not legally have to say “I take the bus” just say “yes I do have reliable transportation” and leave it at that. Do not over share. DO NOT OVER SHARE. The second question just say no. If your kids are sick call out as if you are sick. I don’t have kids but I myself can get sick and that doesn’t hinder my ability to succeed so kids getting sick shouldn’t hinder you. When I call out I give as little info as possible. No one needs to know why you call out. They can’t ask about your “illness” because it violates HIPAA if they do. So as long as you don’t offer more info than you need to you should be okay.

I’ve never thought about it like this.

You should keep everything to yourself as much as possible including social media (which is getting harder and harder to do) the less you offer the better.

if someone compliments your drawing and you reply “no it’s bad/shitty/ugly” you’re saying that the person’s taste in art is bad/shitty

who exactly profits in this situation?

having anxiety and/or depression and that making it hard to take compliments is one thing, being rude to someone who supports you is another

at some point people will just stop saying nice things to you because you act like they shouldn’t be complimenting you

Okay that virus that’s going around, is seriously fucking scary. I got the same thing on my computer about a week ago and I got rid of it, but it took a lot. This type of virus can control your browser, it can control your webcam, it can control all your files, and track you.

If you’ve seen the post already, do not click on the user if someone like this follows you.

image

If you do on accident, you will be taken to an FBI site, which tells you you’ve viewed pornography and stuff. Looks a little like this…

image

It asks you to pay a fine. ITS NOT REAL. DO NOT PAY IT. You won’t be able to leave the page, or close your browser. Your computer is probably infected now, and you need to remove it.

  1. Click ctrl-alt-delete at the same time and open task manager. Shut down your browser. Uninstall it completely.
  2. Reset your computer to the last known date when you didn’t have the virus.
  3. Install and Run malawarebytes. It’s a free service, that get’s rid of all bugs in your computer. The download link is hereMost antivirus softwares can’t detect things like this, so your best bet is to just download it. Run a full scan to ensure your computer is clean.
  4. Restart your computer, and you should be fine.
  5. The main thing here is to not panic. I did, and it just makes the situation worse than it really is.

If you have seen a post about it, you’ll see that icon, and a URL with random letters. Please don’t risk it, you’ll have to work really hard to get it off your computer. Be careful, and DO NOT PANIC. Here is another tutorial on how to get rid of it,

Any more questions? Feel free to ask me. I got this off two of our computers, so it’s possible. BE SAFE

here is a link to a tutorial for how to remove this if you are on a Mac

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. I somehow clicked on one of these things the other day and wowie was I in for a world of hell. Thankfully I got it under control and my I’m a-ok now but you REALLY DONT WANT TO GET THIS SHIT ON YOUR COMPUTER.

Mobile users stay cautious too.

yo, by the way, don’t buy anything from Fabletics. i just got off the phone with my credit card company, and although i’ve managed to reverse the unauthorized $49.95 they charged me this month, they’ve apparently been doing this since february. let me repeat that, they’ve taken $200 from me and not made it known. all because i bought a pair of on sale leggings a few months back.

so, every few weeks they have a sale. generally a “buy 2 for the price of one if you sign up for free!” sort of thing. like a regular old clothing retailer, you add your items to the cart, say sure, you’ll give them your email address to save your details, and then enter your payment information. then you get your stuff a couple weeks later. but what they don’t mention is this fun little bit of fine print:

yeah, they save your credit card number. and charge it repeatedly. (even more concerningly, i had my old card that i used for the original purchase cancelled a couple months ago after some unauthorized payments started cropping up. i haven’t interacted with Fabletics since, but somehow, they’re charging my new card?)

it should also be noted that they also send out about 4 marketing emails per day, and this is what your “payment notification” looks like.

hint: it’s the middle one. which looks just like a regular promo email.

long story short, they draw you in with a sale, ask you to sign up for an account, and then start quietly charging you $50 a month that you can only get back if you get in touch with them within a couple of days. also, even if you try cancelling over the phone or through a live chat, they’ll hassle you to keep your membership and word everything cryptically.

ah, yeah, and a lot of people are still getting charged after cancelling their memberships. i mean hundreds. and Fabletics refuses to refund their “subscription.” it’s literally a scam.

tl;dr, don’t buy from Fabletics, and if you do, very carefully monitor your credit card bill for months afterwards. don’t be like me and get scammed out of $200 without knowing it. (my card provider is currently contacting Fabletics in an attempt to get that hefty chunk of cash refunded, but who knows if i’ll get it back. probably not.)

Avoid video games that use extrinsic motivation. A video game should at least mostly rely on intrinsic motivation, meaning that the playing of the game itself is the fun part, not the reward you get for playing the game. If you don’t enjoy the gameplay, but you want to earn lootboxes, you’ve fallen into the intentionally exploitative system operating within so many games nowadays, and you need to find another game, because you’re not having fun.

It doesn’t sound serious, but this kind of thing can make depression way worse if you’ve already got depression.

this is also bad if you’ve got an addictive personality/gambling addiction or poor impulse control

this is true and i never thought about it. It’s that feeling of needing to check off all the boxes, without any actual enjoyment of it. It’s a very autistic problem for me; i crave pattern completion, but it can come at too high a cost.
