Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.

We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.

We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]

This is a critical moment. In the last few weeks more than 65,000 people have taken action with us. Can you help us get to 80,000 by the end of the day today?

Fight For The Future

we’re almost ¾ of the way there!! c’mon guys, every bit counts!

will it ever stop

fucking signal boost

IF YOU ARE NOT SIGNAL BOOSTING THIS YOU ARE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.

IF THE U.S. FALLS TO THIS IT WILL OPEN OTHER DANGEROUS DOORS INTERNATIONALLY.

Start a civil war against the US government.

Signal boost for my us followers

I try to keep the things I reblog as blog/mun-centric as possible, but this is something I just can’t let slide.

I’ve been following this cause since last year.  I’ve signed petitions, I’ve called representatives, I’ve been to protests, the whole nine yards.

This right here?  This is not a joke.  This is seriously happening, guys.

Remember the Wikipedia shutdown?  That was to protest this right here.  If you haven’t taken action against this yet, frankly, what is wrong with you?  If this doesn’t get stopped, we’re going to lose the thing that brings us all together unless we shell out huge sums of cash to these corrupt bastards.

Do not just sit there and keep browsing.

Do not scroll past this.

Fight.

PLEASE!!

I love you all, and losing you would (more literally than you would like) kill me.

I ALREADY have enough problems with the internet as is.

Not to mention, my SCHOOL could be affected by this.

PLEASE don’t scroll past this.

I, personally, am signing a petition every day to get it through by representatives’ heads.

PLEASE do the same.

The internet just changed: Net Neutrality is dead.

This is the next move to restore net neutrality

If it feels like you’re fighting battles on every side, you’re not alone. The struggle is terrifyingly real. But we can still make this year the best possible version of 2018 it can be. There’s a new opportunity in to restore strong net neutrality protections: The Congressional Review Act.

What is the Congressional Review Act?

The CRA lets the House and Senate repeal administrative laws—rules and regulations set by governmental agencies—with a simple majority in both houses. The resolutions can’t be blocked by leadership, amended, or filibustered.

This congress has used the CRA more than any other to overturn regulations that protect vulnerable people and the environment, but this time we can use it for a good purpose—to reverse the FCC’s decision and restore net neutrality.

We just need #OneMoreVote

Battle For The Net has secured commitments from 50 senators. One more and we can take this fight to the House. These are the targets:

  • John Kennedy (Louisiana) | 202-224-4623 | Email
  • John McCain (Arizona) | 202-224-2235 | Email
  • Orrin Hatch (Utah) | 202-224-5251 | Email
  • Dean Heller (Nevada) | 202-224-6244 | Email

If you live in these states, we need you. Even if you don’t, you can still help the cause.

Go to battleforthenet.com to write or call your representatives.

Tell them to support the “Resolution of Disapproval” and overturn the FCC’s December 14 “Restoring Internet Freedom” vote.

Net Neutrality is Dead and You Can Expect Your Internet to Change on April 23rd

faninacan:

Yeah, no, I’m cross-tagging because the lack of attention this is getting overall is pissing me off.

Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. You’ll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.

You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCC’s decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net won’t end there, but it’s a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.

Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We don’t have a whole lot of time.

Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!

Guys we got a lot going on political wise now but this one is one issue that should have been cut and dry and done.
Call your rep ASAP so they don’t forget to do this. Probably mention this would be the easiest legislation they would ever pass and get done

guys this is happening tomorrow and this looks like once it’s gone it will be a bitch and a half to get back CALL YOUR SENATORS PLEASE

Reblog the hell out of this please

This is an older article, but it is worth putting up.

Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.

If I lose internet for any reason, this is the reason why.

Shit like this.

If they do this to my community I’m kicking at least one person at Verizon’s ass.

My rural internet company is booting us next month, leaving us with no other option for internet but AT&T.

This is how it starts.

Dem Think Tank Sneakily Teamed Up With AT&T to Fight Net Neutrality

empressreborn:

 So everyone, the plot thickens.

In case others are just joining in, a few weeks ago a news article was released regarding AT&T getting caught in fake activism and also funding a think tank for the express purpose of sabotaging the CRA resolution of disapproval. It took some doing, but, I managed to get Mike Figuredo of the Humanist Report to cover the story.

Not only was that Think Tank funded by AT&T, but also by Verizon, Comcast… What is also listed as a Democratic Think Tank.

I would say that more details about who exactly from the Democrats side sponsored this little Think  Tank is in order, so that we know exactly who to vote out in November.

Nolite te Bastardes Corborundorum.

35,000+ of you reblogged my NN post. This one needs spreading just as badly.

Don’t let talk about this die.

Tumblr doesn’t care about Net Neutrality anymore.

auratei:

azazels-eyes:

Let’s take a look at some screenshots of an article I was reading earlier today…

Keyword: was. They don’t support net neutrality anymore. Why you ask? well…

Tumblr is owned by Yahoo. Now that Verizon (a company that hates net neutrality) bought Yahoo, they have demanded that Tumblr must stop supporting net neutrality too. The Tumblr staff has stopped posting about net neutrality.

This site is being forced to hate net neutrality. (article link)

this is why all those net neutrality posts are disappearing from your feeds. don’t let it do so

Reminder that Ajit Pai wants us to forget that Net Neutrality is dead.

Things seem normal now, but within the next couple of months we will start to see some changes to the internet infrastructure.

NOT DEAD. IT CAN STILL BE CHALLENGED IN THE COURTS. CALL YOUR SENATORS. CALL YOUR REPS. CONTINUE TO HARASS THEM.

update: with the recent flip in the senate, a bill deeming that repeal ineffective is gaining traction
