Wasn’t this because S1 was created before all the written works and at the time the authors wanted the Blues to be a sort of villains, then changed their mind? I don’t currently have time to pull the sources, but I vaguely recall something about this.
Is that right? Oh, my bad! I honestly thought LSW was before S1, and that they’d neglected to do *any* work on the backstory at all. That makes much more sense, then.
Yeah! I had remembered reading something a couple years back about this. After a little googling, I found that S1 ran from October 5 to December 28th of 2012. The only written predecessor to this is K:MOR, which started on May 28th of the same year. Every other written work came out either during or after S1. LSW didn’t run till 2014 and only recently wrapped up!
Fushimi Saruhiko is by far my favorite character in K, and it IS a little stressing to see him constantly reduced to his S1 state in fanworks, but those fanworks that came out before we got his backstory can’t really be judged under the same lens.
