Dem Think Tank Sneakily Teamed Up With AT&T to Fight Net Neutrality

empressreborn:

 So everyone, the plot thickens.

In case others are just joining in, a few weeks ago a news article was released regarding AT&T getting caught in fake activism and also funding a think tank for the express purpose of sabotaging the CRA resolution of disapproval. It took some doing, but, I managed to get Mike Figuredo of the Humanist Report to cover the story.

Not only was that Think Tank funded by AT&T, but also by Verizon, Comcast… What is also listed as a Democratic Think Tank.

I would say that more details about who exactly from the Democrats side sponsored this little Think  Tank is in order, so that we know exactly who to vote out in November.

Nolite te Bastardes Corborundorum.

35,000+ of you reblogged my NN post. This one needs spreading just as badly.

PSA: Kim Jong Un’s Sister Is Not Your New Fav Shade Queen. She’s A Garbage Monster.

nunyabizni:

The two did not speak, shake hands, or even appear to make eye contact.

At one point, while Pence was cheering, Kim Yo Jong briefly glanced at Pence. …and some people decided she was giving him “deadly side-eye.”

Some thought it was #relatable.

But
before you decide your fave new shade queen is a powerful North Korean
official, let’s talk about why you should probably not stan Kim Yo Jong!

1.
She’s believed to be part of the regime’s Propaganda and Agitation Department…so she’s prooooobably not trying to defect.

In fact, she plays a major role in her brother’s regime and is a member of the politburo of North Korea’s all-powerful Workers’ Party. According to the New York Times, she is also the only member of the ruling family who appears on camera with her dictator brother.

2.
Speaking of family, Kim Jong Un is believed to have ordered the assassination of his own half brother, Kim Jong Nam.

Kim Jong Nam, an exile from his country, was known for his
criticism of the North Korean regime. He was killed after being attacked
with VX nerve agent in an airport last year.

3. The North Korean regime commits frequent public executions of its own citizens.

In 2015, a South Korean report said that between 2000 and 2013,
almost 1,400 North Korean citizens were publicly executed, reportedly as
a means to “keep the population in line.”

Thousands of North Koreans were required to witness firing squad executions in public stadiums in 2013, according to a South Korean newspaper.

4.
In fact, the North Korean regime actually enslaves many of its citizens.

Human rights campaigners with the European Alliance for Human Rights
in North Korea say North Koreans have been sent abroad to work in jobs
performing manual labor and have 90% of their pay sent back to the
repressive state.

Amnesty International says
more than 50,000 North Koreans have been sent to work in countries such
as Angola, China, Kuwait, Qatar, and Russia. “Most workers were
deprived of information about international or domestic labour laws and
often lacked access in the host countries to any government agencies and
other organizations monitoring compliance with or offering assistance
in claiming labour rights,” according to the human rights group.

5. The regime is one of the
world’s most repressive. It strips its citizens of all sorts of rights,
including freedom of expression, freedom of information, and the freedom
to move in and out of the country
.

Almost all North Koreans are denied access to the internet, according
to Amnesty, and they can be arrested and sent to prison camps if found
with a smuggled mobile phone. International calls are also blocked.

“North
Koreans are not only deprived of the chance to learn about the world
outside, they are suppressed from telling the world about their almost
complete denial of human rights,” said Arnold Fang, Amnesty’s East Asia researcher.

Some people have even been detained for watching foreign soap operas.

6. Kim Yo Jong’s family literally runs gulags.

A United Nations inspector in 2013 spoke of “unspeakable atrocities” inflicted on political prisoners in North Korean camps.

Michael
Kirby, a former Australian High Court judge, told the UN his team had
heard testimony from a man who had been imprisoned in North Korea from
birth, eating lizards, rodents, and grass to survive. One woman was forced to drown her own baby in a bucket.

7.  Her brother’s regime has been blamed for the death of US college student Otto Warmbier.

Otto Warmbier was detained in North Korea in January 2016 after he
was accused of a “hostile act” while on a group tour. Warmbier was
accused of stealing a poster at his hotel in Pyongyang, and sentenced to
15 years of prison and hard labor. After being held for 17 months, he
was only extradited back to the US when he was in a coma. He died soon after.

Sen. John McCain has said
Warmbier was “murdered” by North Korea. “In the final year of his life,
he lived the nightmare in which the North Korean people have been
trapped for 70 years: forced labor, mass starvation, systematic cruelty,
torture, and murder,” the Arizona Republican said.

8.  She’s part of a country that is, quite literally, threatening nuclear war against the US.

Have you not been paying attention to ANY news this past year? Her
brother has explicitly said “the entire United States is within range of
our nuclear weapons, a nuclear button is always on my desk.” It’s a whole thing.

Ok. So please don’t support this woman. Thanks!

Forced Safe Mode just went live. Go into your account settings to check for the changes.

Here’s how to turn it off:

iOS:

  • Leave the Tumblr app for a sec and go to the main Settings app on your device.
  • Scroll down and tap “Tumblr.”
  • Look for “Safe Mode” and adjust the settings to match your comfort level.

Android:

  • Go to settings: Tap the little person in the tab bar, then the gear icon in the top right, then “General settings.”
  • Tap “Filtering,” then
  • Flip the Safe Mode switch on.

Web:

  • Go to settings: Click the little fella in the top bar, then click settings.
  • Scroll to “Filtering,” and click the Safe Mode switch on.

This happened today to me. Even though I literally turned it off last night, too. Double-check your settings if you haven’t.

choking on water is the worst because how do you stop choking? drink something? well ive got some bad news for you

Lean your head forward, preferably to knee level, and let the water kind of drain out of your mouth. When your are able to, take deep slow breaths. No heimlich maneuver or physical assists from somebody else should be used beyond this, otherwise you could vomit and escalate the issue. Its about keeping the larynx open. Hopefully this helps.

can we please bring back “in poor taste” as a concept

Because at some point it got folded in under “problematic,” and now every damn thing that has Unfortunate Implications or deals with sensitive topics indelicately enough to raise hackles or gores somebody’s sacred cow is treated as a grave injustice or a threat to society. Online activism culture has lost the vocabulary to express “this deals with touchy stuff in a way many people might find inappropriate, and you should probably avoid it if insensitivity on this subject gets you angry/upset, but it’s not promoting hateful ideas or demeaning people or affecting anything but my opinion of the creator’s sense of tact.”

I think this really an important post.

We’ve fallen into such a rut of “everything is right or wrong, no inbetween” that stuff that’s merely in poor taste is conflated with things that are actually offensively malicious.

this is so well worded like i been trying to say this for awhile thank you

Damn. This is the thing.

Good, yes. This is a valuable concept.

. . and while we’re at it, can “problematic” actually mean problematic again?  As in potentially but not definitely bad.  Imperfect.  Difficult to assess.  One person might find it hurtful and another might not.  If you think something is definitely bad, ‘problematic’ is not the word you want.
Basically can we just have the general concept of gray areas back?

Heads up – Safe Mode will soon be auto-enabled.

For everyone.

Via email update (emphasis added):

Last year we introduced Safe Mode, which filters sensitive content in your dashboard and search results so you have control over what you see and what you don’t. And now that it’s been out for a while, we want to make sure everyone has the chance to try it out.

Over the next couple weeks, you might see some things in your dashboard getting filtered. If you like it that way, that’s great. If you don’t, no problem. You can go back by turning off Safe Mode any time.

Don’t get me wrong, I recognize that this feature is a good one to offer! It’s also important for it to be auto-enabled for blogs with underage users. What I don’t understand is why Tumblr apparently intends to auto-enable Safe mode for everyone. I have some tags blacklisted, and am not sure if I’d notice the newly filtered posts. So if I hadn’t seen this email, I might be missing out on some kickass fics, art, and edits from blogs that primarily post that type of content!

Anyway, if you, like me, enjoy the nsfw or otherwise sensitive posts you see on your dash, and don’t particularly want to miss said content … you might want to keep an eye on your account settings.

Signal boosting. And because I wouldn’t have FOUND the damn Safe Mode settings if I hadn’t followed the link in the email, here are the instructions for turning it off.

I would literally never have found it without @27dragons boost

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS CREAM. TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK.

image

MEMORIZE THE PACKAGING SO YOU MAKE SURE YOU NEVER BUY THIS CREAM FOR YOURSELF OR ANYONE YOU LOVE.

This post is about vaginas. My vagina in particular. I get yeast infections pretty regularly, and until recently I was able to afford to see a doctor who could prescribe me fluconazole.

Fluconazole, a drug also known by the brand name Diflucan, is a small pink pill. You take two pills a few days apart from each other to restore balance and harmony to your bountiful folds. I’ve never ever had a bad side effect from taking this pill.

Cut to November 2016. I’m a recent college grad without reliable health care coverage in the process of finding a job. And I’m dealing with a yeast infection. Before I moved out of state, my previous doctor told me about Miconazole. She said it was as effective as the pill and hallelujah, it’s over the counter! I decided to purchase the cream pictured above. This treatment only lasted 3 days, a convenient time frame for my schedule.

The application process was a little messy, and some of the cream came in contact with my vulva and labia. Within 5 minutes every piece of skin that had come in contact with the cream, excluding my hands, was on fire. I wanted to scream it was so painful. I began frantically searching for what I should do online.

I found a whole forum of people on drugs.com who had experienced something similar. These comments saved me, and these were just on the first page. There were 33 pages total, the earliest dated July 2009.

I was writhing in pain at 2AM when I found this forum (which I found by searching “my vagina burn itch hurts after miconazole” on Google). As soon as I read these comments I threw the devil cream directly into the trash and jumped in the shower. I didn’t feel any actual relief until I reached in and scraped the cream out of me. I paid $17 plus tax on this bullshit, but I could have just as easily ripped up my money or paid someone to not hurt me.

The moral of the story is that vaginal health care is is completely fucked up because we don’t have access to an over the counter cure for yeast infections that is safe for our bodies and also YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY THIS CREAM EVER.

Reblog to save a vagina.

Okay so I used to get yeast infections every month after my period ‘cause my pH levels were fucked up or something (idk that’s what my doctor said) and I actually used to take this stuff and it was fine. Then a couple years down the road I had a yeast infection for the first time in ages and I used this again and it burned so bad I had to sit in the bath and like physically dig it out of my vagina

AND THEN I LEARNED THAT IT’S BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE A YEAST INFECTION. I had a bacterial infection, which is honestly pretty much identical to a yeast infection depending on the severity. The only difference is that IF YOU HAVE A BACTERIAL INFECTION AND TRY TO USE YEAST INFECTION MEDICATION IT WILL HURT

But it’s not actually the medication’s fault. The medication DOES do what it’s supposed to do, provided you’re actually suffering from a yeast infection. Chances are though that you and every one who commented on this did, in fact, have bacterial infections instead.

FORTUNATELY they also make over the counter tests so you can know if you need to call your doctor or just grab some yeast medicine off the shelf. Next time if you aren’t sure, pee on a stick and save yourself a world of fucking pain

AMEN.

It’s unfortunate that I’m 27 and never knew that last bit of information. The world of vaginal health is so obscure and inaccessible.

Reblogging because I too once found out the hard way that I had a bacterial & not yeast infection. 😑

I, too, once set my vagina aflame with miconazole. I didn’t know it was because of a bacterial infection. Reblogging to save a vag.

Reblogging to save a vag.

It’s almost like the shame and stigma thar surrounds vaginas is a danger to the health and well being of people who have vaginas.

Damn y’all #saveavag

Also you don’t pee on the screening test. You insert it into your vagina, press the testing strip against the wall of your vagina and hold it there for a few seconds so that the pH strip can determine the pH of your vagina. It’s painless and usually has two in the box so you can have one for later.
