An Akira Fudo (DEVILMAN Crybaby) commission that I painted over my twitch stream the last couple of nights~ be sure to check out the full view for all the tiny details.
Father and Mother are researchers who are exploring the Antarctic
Discover the demon skull artifact; father ends up possessed by a demon
Father comes back home, bringing the artifact with him
Doesn’t realize that he is possessed by a demon until he tries to kill Akira
Father commits suicide by hanging “I knew he was dead… I could see it in his eyes. But his body was still moving. Something inside of him was still alive and it was struggling against the noose. It was trying to escape.”
Before he died, father explained the existence of demons to Akira
Ryo Asuka
Professor Asuka still alive
After Ryo becomes a Devilman, he tries to keep it a secret from his father
Later down the line, Professor Asuka discovers the truth
Still accepts and loves Ryo (;;;;)
When the demons reveal themselves and humans fall into paranoia, many of the world’s scientists work together to fight against the demons– as a result, they help with fueling the discrimination against Devilmen
Professor Asuka is the only one unwilling to join in and help fuel the fire
As a result, Professor Asuka ends up being killed for his betrayal “He was dead. Everyone was dead. I couldn’t protect the people who I loved and cared about. So tell me– what reason did I have to become a Devilman… if all I did was damn those closest to me?”
Ryo loses faith in humanity
professor asuka after he learns about ryo being a devilman
dr. asuka: welcome home son, there’s kool-aid on the counter, please don’t get demon blood on the carpet
ryo: it’s called “ichor,” dad
dr. asuka: is that a pokeman thing
ryo: dad
But how did Professor Asuka learn that his son was a Devilman, hm?
One night, Ryo came back to the Asuka household… still in his Devilman form. He was trying to beat his midnight curfew. Prior to this incident, Professor Asuka noticed that his son was staying out later and later. He had suspicions as to why, but he didn’t bring them up to his son.
With this in mind, it was extremely important for Ryo to not pass his curfew or else he risked exposing his secret.
Now its a fact: Flying is faster than walking. So it seemed like a good idea (at the time) for Ryo to quickly make it back home.
He flew down onto the lawn.
But before he could change back, the porch light turned on. And right there, exposed under the soft glow of the lamp… was Ryo’s father.
