WE HAVE TO START MAKING NOISE ON THE ISSUE OF ARTICLE 13 AND WE HAVE TO START DOING IT NOW!!!!!

arcticlee:

I’m shocked to see just how SILENT everyone are about Article 13 and what it could potentially do to us European social media users as well as to anyone outside of Europe.

On September 2018, according to the Verge: “Yesterday, the European Parliament approved amendments to the controversial Copyright Directive, a piece of legislation intended to update copyright for the internet age”; “But the proposed change hasn’t finished yet, and it’s still too early to say exactly what it will mean”. That was back in September.

Recently, Youtube started making noise and sharing all the information needed on Article 13 and what will happen if it gets approved by the majority in the Parliament (you can read all the info on their twitter account @YTCreators). The news are not great and there’s NOT MUCH TIME LEFT before the final decision gets made. The whole European Parliament will make final votes for or against Article 13 in 2019 around spring time. That time will be crucial not only for US EUROPEANS but for THE REST OF THE WORLD as well. Why?

As WIRED writes, Article 13 will have major influence on all the content that gets shared around on social medias like Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Youtube. What that means? European social media users won’t be able to share music, videos, photos UNLESS they’re original and were created by them. If not, social medias will be forced to REMOVE any content that infringes on copyright, meaning all reaction videos, gifs, memes, songs will be continuously banned from being used by us.

And most importantly, YOUTUBE AND ALL YOUTUBE CREATORS IN EUROPE WILL BE IN GREAT DANGER. Why? Because same things will happen on youtube:

  • Billions of videos made by European content creators will probably be removed– again because of new copyright laws;
  • Small content creators will have the biggest crash and will literally have to say goodbye to their dreams of even becoming youtubers, because the focus will be put mainly on big youtubers and big corporations running youtube channels- everyone else will be left in the dark;
  • The access to youtube videos by us regular viewers will be limited SIGNIFICANTLY to the point where there’ll be any content left to watch;
  • Any creator OUTSIDE OF EUROPE will lose all their European viewers, meaning SIGNIFICANT DROP IN NUMBERS;
  • Any European content creators will experience significant changes on their channels– all to the worse resulting in HUGE LOSS OF VIEWS and SUBSCRIBERS as well as FACING THE CONSTANT BATTLE AGAINST COPYRIGHT STRIKES;

That’s right, all European content creators will have to PROVE that their content is original and ONLY ORIGINAL. If not, those videos get removed instantly. So what does it mean to all the gaming channels? To all the react channels? Youtubers right now have to deal with constant copyright strikes resulting either in demonetization or their videos getting taken down- what will happen when Article 13 gets put in place???

UNTIL SPRING WE HAVE AROUND 4-5 MONTHS LEFT- PERFECT AMOUNT OF TIME TO MAKE SOME NOISE, TO SPREAD AWARENESS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY- TAKE ACTION!! AND IT HAS TO BE DONE NOW!!

So what can we really do?

  1. First and foremost don’t sit back on this and think all of this will be fine, it’s not that scary as everyone makes it to be. OH HELL YEAH IT WILL GET SCARY once you will face all the consequences of not doing anything to change things around.
  2. GO AND TYPE OUT YOUR OWN POSTS SHARING YOUR CONCERNS AND ENCOURAGING EVERYONE TO TAKE ACTION– TAG AS MANY FANDOMS AND YOUTUBERS AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN THINK OF
  3. Anyone who lives in Europe- go to saveyourinternet.eu and contact your MEPs. THIS PART RIGHT HERE IS CRUCIAL, BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BE HEARD. WRITE EMAILS TO THEM, MAKE CALLS and state all the FACTS on why ARTICLE13 SHOULDN’T BE APPROVED!!!!! PESTER THE HELL OUT OF YOUR MEPS!!!!!
  4. Anyone outside of Europe, please PLEASE go to this site and sign this petition: https://t.co/QY3fwK113F. The goal is 2 million signs, but I’m 100% we can surpass that goal and show just how much we care about this!!

As an European myself, I’m GREATLY TERRIFIED about what will happen if Article 13 gets approved in 2019. If action will not be taken right now, we will be striped down of our ability to stay creative, have fun on the internet and enjoy the content shared by everyone around us.

Don’t let Article 13 take away this from us and don’t wait until the last day when it’s all too late. You have time right now to make change so TAKE YOUR PHONES, YOUR LAPTOPS AND COMPUTERS AND CREATE SOME GODDAMN NOISE ABOUT ARTICLE13 ON ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIAS!!!!

Do you think Dazai considers anyone besides Odasaku to be a friend? Like Kunikida or Atsuhi or Chuuya? If not, who do you think he’s closest to at the moment.

blackandwhitemusician:

Ahhh this is an excellent question.. I personally think that currently, Dazai doesn’t really consider anyone a friend, at least not in the same way Odasaku was. Dazai seems to have a rather high standard for who he considers a true friend (and honestly for a good reason), and as we know by now, he rarely ever uses that word. Odasaku was also in a unique position as he was the first and last person who tried to look deep into Dazai’s heart. He forced Dazai to rethink his choices and snap out of his “oxidizing world of a dream” – he shook Dazai out of his sleep and told him to live. That’s something that no other character in the current timeline had managed to do.

Over the years, Dazai has also learnt to keep a distance between himself and others. While he wasn’t as good at communicating when he was younger, he was also less conscious about how he came across. He could get on Ango’s and Chuuya’s nerves without minding it too much; he spoke somewhat openly about his suicidal fantasies in front of Odasaku without any need for filters or censors. Thanks to that sincerity and honesty, he managed to form a friendship with Ango and Odasaku, and didn’t bother to hide how comfortable he felt around them. In the ADA, although Dazai is now in a more healthy environment, it doesn’t mean he would automatically open up to others. In fact, I feel like the reverse is happening. Dazai has learnt to perfect his mask, and while he may be sincerely fond of the ADA members, he also seems to close up even more regarding his personal feelings.

As to who he is closest to at the moment, I really don’t think anyone can be considered “close” to Dazai as of now. The problem lies with Dazai himself, mostly. While the ADA members, most notably Atsushi and Kunikida, have put in the effort to try to help Dazai – let’s not talk about trying to understand him just yet – whether he is willing to open his heart to them is a different matter (as of now, my response is “not quite”). If we are talking about physical contact, then Atsushi is probably the closest to Dazai since Dazai is technically Atsushi’s senpai in the ADA, and he is responsible for training Atsushi. There have also been more instances of Dazai sincerely observing and communicating with Atsushi than with anyone else. Dazai understands and acknowledges Atsushi’s struggle – that’s a huge step towards forming a healthy friendship – and in return, Atsushi tries to repay Dazai’s kind gestures the best he can, by offering his strength and even taking the first steps in trying to understand Dazai (though it’s a slow progress for him). Little by little, Dazai is also starting to show a more sincere side in front of Atsushi (such as that scene on the cruise ship where Dazai was just deep in thought, with no mask on).

Kunikida is close to Dazai in the sense that they worked as partners for two years, and Dazai is constantly playing pranks on Kunikida. However, there is still a certain distance between them. Kunikida doesn’t openly try to pry into Dazai’s personal thoughts as much as Atsushi does – possibly because Kunikida has more reservation in the matter, and he may also feel that he isn’t in a position to do so. Dazai playing pranks on Kunikida may be an effort to get him to loosen up, but also a way to distract himself and others so they won’t pry into his private thoughts (no one really thinks of questioning a clown). With Chuuya, I think it’s a similar case. Dazai and Chuuya get on each other’s nerves often enough and they know each other’s methods and strength, but emotionally, I don’t think they connect more than Dazai does with Kunikida or Chuuya does with the Black Lizards. Granted, there is a certain level of understanding between Dazai and Kunikida as well as Dazai and Chuuya, but for me it’s mostly in the battlefield: they know each other’s strength and that allows for a perfect coordination.

There are a few people who can keep up with Dazai intellectually, such as Mori and Ranpo, but those same people are not necessarily interested in understanding his emotional and mental struggles. And whether Dazai considers anyone to be a friend also depends largely on his definition of friendship and what he looks for in a true friend. I don’t think he necessarily needs a match in terms of intellectual prowess. More than that, he needs someone who is willing to be patient with him, to understand and accept him without judgement, but also someone who isn’t afraid to challenge him when necessary. Each of the characters we have discussed has somewhat succeeded in one or two aspects, but so far only Odasaku has achieved everything. Chuuya and Ranpo may be able to challenge Dazai, but they don’t necessarily try to understand him. Kunikida may be able to accept Dazai’s moral neutrality, but he doesn’t really make a conscious effort to understand or challenge him. Atsushi may be a little behind in keeping up with Dazai mentally, but he is taking that first step in accepting him and even trying to understand him. He is not yet ready to challenge Dazai, though.

To wrap up this excellent question (to which I have totally gone overboard with my lengthy response), I don’t think Dazai is ready to consider anyone a friend at the moment, at least not in the same way Odasaku was a friend to him. He may be sincerely fond of his ADA colleagues and even his former colleagues in the Mafia, such as Chuuya, Akutagawa, Hirotsu and Gin, but he still has a long way to go before he can comfortably open his heart and let people look into his inner thoughts.

It’s a minor pet peeve, but it is everywhere today so errrr…. please keep in mind that “Rest in Peace”/RIP literally comes from a latin phrase and is a very very deeply Christian expression.

When talking about the departed, Jews say “may their memory be a blessing.”

So please, when talking about a dead person who is Jewish, try to keep in mind that RIP is a Christian phrase.

I learned something today, so I’ll pass it on so someone else can learn too

People keep saying that Detective Pikachu is going to have the obligatory almost-swear-but-cut-away-last-second joke, and it almost certainly is going to do that

But I can’t stop thinking about the fact that the movie IS PG-13

Meaning they can get away with saying fuck once and keep it PG-13
